Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Whisk until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: 1/4 cup of milk, 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold together with a spatula until just combined. The dough will be slightly sticky.
- Lightly flour your work surface and turn the dough out. Knead gently for about 30 seconds to form a cohesive ball. Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Use a round cookie cutter or glass to cut out circles (1.5 to 2 inches in diameter). Use a smaller cutter or piping tip to cut out the center of each circle, creating donut holes. Gather scraps and re-roll to cut out more holes.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Place the donut holes in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each. Cook for 5 minutes, checking for golden brown color. If needed, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove the donut holes and let them cool on a wire rack.
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Toss the cooled donut holes in the mixture until fully coated.
- Arrange the coated donut holes on a serving plate. They are best enjoyed warm and can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
Notes
- Ensure not to overmix the dough to keep the donut holes fluffy.
- You can experiment with different coatings, such as chocolate or sprinkles, for variety.
- These donut holes pair wonderfully with coffee or hot chocolate.
