  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These Air Fryer Jamaican Jerk Potatoes are a deliciously crispy side dish infused with spicy jerk seasoning, perfect for complementing grilled meats or enjoying as a tasty snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of baby potatoes (or any small potatoes)
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of Jamaican jerk seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the Potatoes: Rinse the baby potatoes under cold water to remove any dirt. Scrub gently with a vegetable brush to ensure they’re clean, as the skins will be left on for extra flavor and texture.
  2. Cut the Potatoes: Cut the potatoes in half or quarters depending on their size. This helps them cook evenly and allows the seasoning to penetrate better.
  3. Boil the Potatoes (Optional): For tender potatoes, boil them in salted water for about 10 minutes until fork-tender but not falling apart. Drain and let cool slightly.
  4. Prepare the Seasoning Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, Jamaican jerk seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Coat the Potatoes: Add the boiled (or raw) potatoes to the seasoning mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  6. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  7. Arrange the Potatoes: Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  8. Air Fry the Potatoes: Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Check for doneness at the 15-minute mark; they should be golden brown and crispy.
  9. Check for Doneness: Pierce a potato with a fork to ensure it’s tender inside and crispy outside. If needed, cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  10. Garnish the Potatoes: Remove the potatoes from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley if desired.
  11. Serve and Enjoy: Serve these Jamaican jerk potatoes as a side dish or snack, perfect with grilled meats, fish, or a refreshing salad.

Notes

  • Adjust the Spice Level: Modify the amount of jerk seasoning to suit your taste preferences.
  • Experiment with Other Vegetables: Try this recipe with sweet potatoes, carrots, or cauliflower for a different twist.
  • Storage: Leftover potatoes can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
