Enjoy the delicious combination of crispy bacon and tender asparagus in this easy-to-make Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus. Perfect as an appetizer or side dish, these savory bites are seasoned to perfection and baked until golden, offering a delightful crunch and flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 8 ounces bacon (preferably thick-cut)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Fresh lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash the asparagus under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus by bending each spear until it snaps or cutting off 1-2 inches from the bottom.
  3. Lay the trimmed asparagus on a clean kitchen towel or paper towel to dry.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Cut each strip of bacon in half for easier wrapping.
  6. (Optional) Partially cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes for extra crispiness.
  7. Take one piece of asparagus and lay it flat. Wrap a half strip of bacon around the asparagus, overlapping slightly, covering from the bottom to about two-thirds up.
  8. Secure the end of the bacon with a toothpick if necessary.
  9. Repeat the wrapping process for all asparagus spears.
  10. In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, black pepper, and sea salt.
  11. Toss the wrapped asparagus in the seasoning mixture until evenly coated.
  12. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Place a wire rack on top if available.
  13. Arrange the bacon-wrapped asparagus on the wire rack or directly on the baking sheet, spaced evenly.
  14. (Optional) Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the top for added flavor.
  15. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, checking for crispiness after 20 minutes.
  16. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  17. Transfer to a serving platter, removing any toothpicks.
  18. Serve warm, garnished with fresh lemon wedges for a refreshing touch.

Notes

  • For added heat, sprinkle red pepper flakes before baking.
  • For a cheesy variation, add grated Parmesan cheese during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  • Experiment with different types of bacon for varied flavors.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
