Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup fresh or dried fruit (bananas, berries, or raisins)
  • Additional toppings: honey, maple syrup, or nut butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Add the milk and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. If using Greek yogurt, add it now. Stir until all oats are fully submerged in the liquid.
  3. Fold in your chopped nuts and fruit. If using fresh fruit, add it in the morning. If using dried fruit, mix it in now.
  4. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness if desired with more brown sugar or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
  5. Divide the mixture into individual jars or containers with lids, leaving some space at the top.
  6. Seal the jars and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4-6 hours.
  7. In the morning, take the jars out of the fridge. Top with fresh fruit if added.
  8. Stir well before eating. If too thick, add a splash of milk to loosen.
  9. Enjoy straight from the jar or transfer to a bowl.
