Instructions

- Melt Butter: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat or in the microwave in 30-second intervals.
- Combine Sugars and Butter: Remove melted butter from heat and stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
- Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Whisk Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Gently fold in chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using).
- Pour into Pan: Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
- Cool: Remove from oven and let cool completely in the pan before cutting.
- Cut: Once cool, cut into squares.
- Dust (Optional): Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
- Serve: Serve at room temperature.
