Description
Fresh and healthy celery juice, made with or without a juicer. A simple way to start your day with a boost of nutrients and hydration.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large bunch of celery (approximately 1 pound), organic preferred
- ½ cup filtered water (optional, for easier blending if needed)
- ½ lemon or lime (optional, for taste)
- Small piece of ginger (optional, for taste and added health benefits)
Instructions
- Wash the Celery Thoroughly: Fill a large bowl or your sink with cold water. Submerge the celery stalks and swish them around vigorously. Use your hands to rub off any visible dirt.
- Separate the Stalks: Remove the celery bunch from the water and separate each stalk.
- Inspect and Trim: Examine each stalk for any signs of bruising, discoloration, or damage. Trim off the very ends of the stalks. Remove any leaves that are wilted or yellowed.
- Second Wash (Optional): Wash the stalks under running water. Use a vegetable brush to scrub the stalks gently.
- Chop the Celery: Cut the celery stalks into smaller pieces, about 1-2 inches long.
- Prepare Your Juicer: Ensure your juicer is clean and properly assembled.
- Feed the Celery: Slowly feed the chopped celery pieces into the juicer. Avoid overloading the juicer.
- Collect the Juice: Collect the juice in a glass or container.
- Juice Additional Ingredients (Optional): If you’re adding lemon, lime, or ginger, juice them along with the celery.
- Clean Your Juicer Immediately: Rinse the parts immediately after use and then wash them thoroughly with soap and water.
- Combine Celery and Water: Place the chopped celery pieces into your blender. Add the ½ cup of filtered water.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend the celery and water on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Strain the Juice: Line a fine-mesh sieve or a nut milk bag with cheesecloth. Place the sieve or nut milk bag over a bowl or pitcher.
- Pour and Strain: Pour the blended celery mixture into the lined sieve or nut milk bag. Allow the juice to drip through naturally. Gently press on the pulp with a spoon or spatula to extract more juice.
- Discard the Pulp: Discard the pulp.
- Blend Additional Ingredients (Optional): If you’re adding lemon, lime, or ginger, you can blend them with the strained celery juice.
- Clean Your Blender: Rinse your blender immediately after use and then wash it thoroughly with soap and water.
- Serve Immediately: Celery juice is best consumed immediately after making it.
- Optional: Add Ice: If you prefer your juice cold, you can add a few ice cubes.
- Storage (If Necessary): If you can’t drink the juice immediately, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake it well before drinking.
