  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Refreshing coffee soda with espresso, club soda, and simple syrup. Customize with flavors and toppings for a perfect hot-day treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces chilled club soda or sparkling water
  • 2 ounces freshly brewed espresso, cooled (or strong cold brew concentrate)
  • 1 ounce simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, then cooled)
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: Whipped cream, chocolate shavings, coffee beans for garnish
  • Optional: Flavored syrups (vanilla, caramel, hazelnut) to taste
  • Optional: A splash of cream or milk (dairy or non-dairy)

Instructions

  1. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes (about 3/4 full).
  2. Pour simple syrup (1 ounce or to taste) over the ice (optional).
  3. Gently pour cooled espresso or strong coffee over the ice and simple syrup.
  4. Slowly pour chilled club soda or sparkling water over the coffee, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  5. Stir gently with a long spoon or straw.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness and coffee strength as needed.
  7. Add optional flavored syrups or cream/milk if desired.
  8. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or coffee beans (optional).
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use freshly brewed espresso that has been cooled. If you don’t have an espresso machine, brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool.
  • Simple syrup is optional but recommended for even sweetness.
  • Experiment with different types of coffee, flavored syrups, and garnishes to create your perfect coffee soda.
  • Adjust the amount of simple syrup to your desired sweetness level.
  • Use cold brew concentrate for a smoother, less acidic flavor.
  • If the coffee soda is too bitter, use a lighter roast coffee or add more simple syrup or cream/milk.
  • If the coffee soda is too sweet, use less simple syrup or add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.
  • If the coffee soda is flat, make sure your club soda or sparkling water is well-chilled and that you’re not over-stirring the drink.
  • If the coffee soda is too weak, use a stronger coffee concentrate or add more coffee to the glass.
  • If the coffee soda is too strong, add more club soda or sparkling water to the glass.
