Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ripe dragon fruit (also known as pitaya)
- 1 banana, frozen for a creamier texture
- 1 cup of coconut water or almond milk
- 1 tablespoon of honey or agave syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds (optional, for added nutrition)
- 1/2 cup of spinach or kale (optional, for a green boost)
- Ice cubes (optional, for a chilled smoothie)
Instructions
- Prepare the dragon fruit by selecting a ripe one with vibrant skin, cutting it in half lengthwise, and scooping out the flesh into a bowl.
- Peel and slice the frozen banana, measure out the coconut water or almond milk, and have honey or agave syrup ready if desired. Measure chia seeds and wash and chop spinach or kale if using.
- In a blender, combine the dragon fruit flesh, banana, coconut water or almond milk, and any optional ingredients. Add ice cubes if you prefer a chilled smoothie. Blend on high speed until smooth, about 30-60 seconds.
- Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with more honey or agave syrup if needed. For a thicker consistency, add more frozen banana or ice cubes and blend again.
- Pour the smoothie into a glass or bowl. Garnish with fresh dragon fruit slices or chia seeds if desired. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
- For the best flavor and nutrition, consume the smoothie fresh. If storing leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
