Description
This easy four-ingredient fudge is a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth treat that’s perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings or gifting to loved ones. With just sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butter, and vanilla extract, you can whip up this delicious dessert in no time!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and tools. You will need a medium-sized saucepan, a wooden spoon or spatula, a measuring cup, and a square baking dish (8×8 inches) lined with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In the medium-sized saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk and unsalted butter. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir the mixture continuously as the butter melts to combine the ingredients evenly and prevent the milk from scorching on the bottom of the pan.
- Once the butter has completely melted, continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and well combined (about 2-3 minutes).
- Reduce the heat to low and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the chocolate chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth (3-5 minutes). Be patient to avoid burning the chocolate.
- Once the chocolate is melted, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the vanilla extract and stir until fully incorporated.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to spread it evenly across the dish, smoothing the top as needed.
- Tap the baking dish gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles and help the fudge settle evenly.
- Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil to prevent dust from settling on the fudge as it cools.
- Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and allow the fudge to set for at least 2 hours. For best results, let it chill overnight.
- Once the fudge has set, remove it from the refrigerator. Lift the fudge out of the baking dish using the edges of the parchment paper.
- Place the fudge on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife, cut the fudge into small squares or rectangles. A pizza cutter can also be used for cleaner cuts.
- Transfer the cut fudge pieces to a serving platter or an airtight container for storage. If not serving immediately, store in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
- Enjoy your easy four-ingredient fudge as a sweet treat or package it as a gift!
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
- Add texture by mixing in nuts or sprinkling sea salt on top before it sets.
- Use sweetened condensed milk for the best creamy texture; evaporated milk won’t work.
- Experiment with flavorings like peppermint or almond extract for a twist.
- Drizzle melted white chocolate over the top for a visually appealing finish.
