Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates (16 pieces)
- 1 package of chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients required on the box)
- 2 cups of heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of Nutella
- 1 cup of milk (for soaking the cake)
- 1 tablespoon of coffee granules (optional, for added flavor)
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions, mixing with eggs, water, and oil until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a large mixing bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream.
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
- Beat the cream on medium-high speed until soft peaks form (about 3-5 minutes). Avoid overbeating.
- Set the whipped cream aside in the refrigerator to keep it chilled.
- In a separate bowl, microwave the Nutella for 10-15 seconds if it’s too thick, then stir until smooth.
- Cut the cooled chocolate cake into 1-inch cubes.
- In a trifle dish or individual serving glasses, layer the chocolate cake cubes at the bottom.
- Mix the milk with coffee granules (if using) and drizzle over the cake cubes.
- Spread a generous dollop of Nutella over the soaked cake layer.
- Top with a layer of whipped cream, spreading it evenly.
- Repeat the layering process until you reach the top of the trifle dish, finishing with whipped cream.
- Chop Ferrero Rocher chocolates and sprinkle on top, along with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish.
- Cover the trifle with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
Notes
- For a stronger coffee flavor, increase the amount of coffee granules.
- This trifle can be made a day in advance, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
