Description
This Frozen Cherry Limeade is a refreshing summer drink that blends tart lime juice with sweet frozen cherries, creating a delightful slushy treat for the whole family. Perfect for hot days, it can also be easily transformed into a cocktail for adult gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups frozen cherries
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 6–8 limes)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 cups cold water
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Fresh lime slices and cherries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Roll the limes on the countertop to release juices. Cut in half and juice to yield about 1 cup of fresh lime juice. Strain to remove seeds if necessary.
- In a blender, add the frozen cherries. Taste and add sugar if needed. Blend until smooth.
- In a large pitcher, combine the cherry puree, lime juice, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Pour in the cold water and stir to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to meld flavors.
- Add the chilled mixture and ice cubes to the blender. Blend until slushy.
- If too thick, add more cold water; if too thin, add more ice and blend again.
- Rim glasses with lime juice and dip in sugar if desired.
- Pour the frozen cherry limeade into prepared glasses, leaving room for garnishes.
- Garnish with lime slices and whole cherries.
- Serve immediately with a straw or spoon. Enjoy fresh, as the ice will melt over time.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider blending in other fruits like strawberries or raspberries.
- To make it a cocktail, add a splash of vodka or rum before blending.
- For a lower sugar option, substitute granulated sugar with a non-sugar alternative.
