  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Frozen Cherry Limeade is a refreshing summer drink that blends tart lime juice with sweet frozen cherries, creating a delightful slushy treat for the whole family. Perfect for hot days, it can also be easily transformed into a cocktail for adult gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups frozen cherries
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 68 limes)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Fresh lime slices and cherries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Roll the limes on the countertop to release juices. Cut in half and juice to yield about 1 cup of fresh lime juice. Strain to remove seeds if necessary.
  2. In a blender, add the frozen cherries. Taste and add sugar if needed. Blend until smooth.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the cherry puree, lime juice, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  4. Pour in the cold water and stir to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to meld flavors.
  6. Add the chilled mixture and ice cubes to the blender. Blend until slushy.
  7. If too thick, add more cold water; if too thin, add more ice and blend again.
  8. Rim glasses with lime juice and dip in sugar if desired.
  9. Pour the frozen cherry limeade into prepared glasses, leaving room for garnishes.
  10. Garnish with lime slices and whole cherries.
  11. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon. Enjoy fresh, as the ice will melt over time.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider blending in other fruits like strawberries or raspberries.
  • To make it a cocktail, add a splash of vodka or rum before blending.
  • For a lower sugar option, substitute granulated sugar with a non-sugar alternative.
