  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 25-30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a flavorful Honey Garlic Glazed Salmon, marinated in a sweet and savory mix of honey, soy sauce, and garlic. This dish is easy to prepare, whether baked or grilled, and is beautifully garnished with green onions and sesame seeds, making it a perfect addition to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Whisk until the honey is fully dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
  2. Taste the marinade and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Add more honey for sweetness or more soy sauce for saltiness as desired.
  3. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring each fillet is well coated. Cover the dish or seal the bag, and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, ideally 1-2 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. If baking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  6. Remove the salmon from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Reserve the marinade. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. If grilling, cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
  8. While the salmon cooks, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce and simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
  9. Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven or grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  10. Drizzle the thickened honey garlic glaze over the salmon fillets.
  11. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  12. Serve with your choice of sides, such as steamed rice, sautéed vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • Choosing the Salmon: Opt for bright-colored, fresh-smelling fillets. Wild-caught salmon is often preferred for flavor and health benefits.
  • Marinating Time: Marinate for at least 30 minutes, but up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor. Avoid marinating too long to prevent the fish from breaking down.
  • Cooking Method: Baking is hands-off, while grilling adds a smoky flavor. Oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  • Serving Suggestions: Pairs well with garlic mashed potatoes, cucumber salad, or roasted asparagus.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
