Description
Enjoy a refreshing Iced Lavender Black Tea, combining floral lavender with robust black tea and a hint of lemon. This soothing yet invigorating drink is perfect for warm days, served over ice and garnished with fresh lavender and lemon slices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups water
- 4 black tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose black tea)
- 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1–2 lemons)
- Ice cubes
- Fresh lavender sprigs (for garnish, optional)
- Fresh lemon slices (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat. Keep an eye on it to prevent boiling over.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and add the black tea bags (or loose black tea in a tea infuser) and dried culinary lavender.
- Cover the saucepan and let the tea steep for 5-7 minutes. Steep longer for a stronger flavor, but avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness.
- After steeping, remove the tea bags or strain out the loose tea and lavender to obtain a fragrant tea base.
- While the tea is still warm, add the granulated sugar and stir until completely dissolved.
- Add the fresh lemon juice to the sweetened tea, enhancing the floral notes of the lavender.
- Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, either by placing the saucepan in a cold water bath or transferring it to a pitcher.
- Once cooled, transfer the tea to a pitcher if not already done.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until chilled. Alternatively, pour over ice in individual glasses for immediate enjoyment.
- Fill your favorite glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the chilled lavender black tea over the ice.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender and a slice of lemon for an elegant touch.
- Stir gently to mix in the garnishes and enjoy!
Notes
- Use high-quality black tea and culinary lavender for the best flavor. Avoid non-culinary lavender due to potential chemicals.
- Modify the sugar amount to your taste; honey or sugar alternatives can also be used.
- Feel free to add herbs like mint or basil, or fruits like peaches or berries for a twist.
- Store leftover tea in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving as flavors may settle.
