Description
A classic Canadian dessert with a no-bake chocolate crumb base, creamy custard filling, and rich chocolate ganache topping.
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 1 cup flaked coconut
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons vanilla custard powder
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Melt butter, cocoa and sugar in top of double boiler.
- Add egg and stir to cook.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in wafer crumbs, coconut and nuts.
- Press firmly into an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan.
- Cream butter, icing sugar, milk and custard powder until fluffy.
- Spread over base.
- Melt chocolate and butter over low heat.
- Cool slightly and spread over second layer.
- Chill.
