1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
9 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
4 cups beef broth
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 (15 ounce) can ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 9 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the uncooked lasagna noodles, breaking them into smaller pieces if desired.
  5. Stir in the beef broth and water. Make sure the noodles are submerged in the liquid.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the noodles are cooked through and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the ricotta cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
  9. Cover the pot and let it sit for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve.
