1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can ricotta cheese

9 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
4 cups beef broth
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the uncooked lasagna noodles, breaking them into smaller pieces if desired.
- Stir in the beef broth and water. Make sure the noodles are submerged in the liquid.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the noodles are cooked through and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove from heat and stir in the ricotta cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Cover the pot and let it sit for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve.

- If you don’t have Italian seasoning, you can use a combination of dried oregano, basil, rosemary, and thyme.
