Description
Enjoy a creamy Oolong Tea Latte, blending rich oolong tea with frothy milk for a cozy treat. Customize it with your favorite sweeteners and spices, making it perfect for any time of day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons loose leaf oolong tea or 2 oolong tea bags
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond, oat, or soy)
- 1–2 tablespoons sweetener (honey, sugar, or maple syrup, to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Ground cinnamon or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil 1 cup of water in a kettle or saucepan. Let it cool for about 30 seconds after boiling to reach the ideal brewing temperature (190°F to 200°F).
- If using loose leaf tea, place 2 tablespoons in a tea infuser or directly into your cup. If using tea bags, add one to your cup.
- Pour the hot water over the tea leaves or tea bag and let it steep for 3-5 minutes, adjusting the time based on your taste preference.
- After steeping, remove the tea leaves or tea bag. If using loose leaf tea, strain it to avoid any leaves in your latte.
- In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of your chosen milk over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. Aim for a temperature of around 150°F (65°C).
- If desired, froth the milk using a milk frother, whisk, or by shaking it in a jar with a lid until frothy.
- In a large mug, pour the brewed oolong tea. Add your sweetener of choice and optional vanilla extract.
- Slowly pour the hot milk into the mug with the tea. If frothed, hold back the foam with a spoon, pour the liquid milk first, and then spoon the foam on top.
- Sprinkle ground cinnamon or cocoa powder on top of the foam for garnish. Stir gently to combine flavors and enjoy the aroma before sipping.
- Serve immediately while warm, perfect for a cozy treat or a refreshing morning beverage.
Notes
- Experiment with flavors by adding almond extract or nutmeg for a twist.
- For a cold version, let the brewed tea cool, pour over ice, and add cold milk.
- Adjust sweetness according to your preference; some enjoy a sweeter latte while others prefer the natural tea flavor.
