- 4 large oranges
- 1 cup of sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice (optional)

Instructions
- Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or pesticides.
- Cut each orange in half using a sharp knife.
- Extract the juice from each half using a citrus juicer or a fork, being careful of the seeds.
- Pour the fresh orange juice into a measuring cup, aiming for about 2 cups of juice.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water to create a simple syrup.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar completely dissolves (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Add the freshly squeezed orange juice to the cooled syrup. If desired, add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice for extra tang.
- Stir the mixture well to combine all ingredients.
- In a large pitcher, pour in the orange squash base.
- Add the remaining 3 cups of water to the pitcher, adjusting for desired strength.
- Stir well to combine and taste, adjusting sweetness if necessary.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Stir the chilled drink before serving.
- Fill a glass with 3-4 ice cubes.
- Pour the chilled orange squash drink over the ice.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
