Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups of water
- 4 black tea bags (or your favorite tea)
- 1 cup of fresh raspberries (plus extra for garnish)
- 1/2 cup of sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Boil the Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil in a medium-sized pot.
- Steep the Tea: Remove the boiling water from heat and add the 4 tea bags. Let steep for 5-7 minutes, adjusting steeping time for desired strength.
- Remove the Tea Bags: Carefully remove the tea bags, squeezing them gently to extract flavor.
- Prepare the Raspberries: Rinse 1 cup of fresh raspberries under cold water and pat dry.
- Cook the Raspberries: In a small saucepan, combine the raspberries and 1/2 cup of sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring gently until the raspberries break down and the sugar dissolves (about 5-7 minutes).
- Strain the Mixture: Remove from heat and strain the raspberry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Mix the Tea and Syrup: In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea and raspberry syrup, stirring well.
- Add Lemon Juice: Pour in 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and stir again.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
- Cool Down: Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours.
- Prepare Your Glasses: Fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the Tea: Pour the chilled raspberry iced tea over the ice-filled glasses.
- Garnish: Add fresh raspberries and a sprig of mint to each glass for garnish.
- Enjoy: Sip and enjoy your refreshing homemade raspberry iced tea!
