Seasoned Crinkle Cut Fries: The Ultimate Guide to Perfectly Crispy Snacks

  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

Crispy crinkle-cut fries made from fresh russet potatoes, seasoned with a blend of spices and baked to perfection. A delicious side dish or snack for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly under cold running water. Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler, or leave the skin on if preferred.
  2. Cut each potato into crinkle-cut fries or thick strips, about ½ inch wide, ensuring uniform size for even cooking.
  3. Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight) to remove excess starch.
  4. Drain the fries and pat them dry with a kitchen towel or paper towels to remove moisture.
  5. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  6. In a large mixing bowl, drizzle olive oil over the dried fries and toss to coat. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the fries and toss again until evenly coated.
  7. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  8. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  9. Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through for even browning.
  11. After 25 minutes, check for doneness. The fries should be golden brown and crispy. If needed, bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  12. Remove the fries from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  13. Serve the fries with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, ranch dressing, or spicy aioli.
  14. If there are leftovers, let them cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes.
  15. Serve yourself a generous portion and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, consider soaking the fries longer or using a crinkle cutter for a fun texture.
  • Adjust the seasoning to your taste, especially the salt and cayenne pepper for heat.
