Description

This vibrant salsa combines fresh tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños with zesty lime juice and cilantro, making it a perfect accompaniment for tacos, chips, or any dish that needs a flavor boost. Enjoy it fresh or let the flavors develop in the fridge for even tastier results!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and Dice the Tomatoes: Rinse the tomatoes under cold water, remove the stem, and cut them into small, even-sized dice.
  2. Chop the Onion: Peel the red onion and chop it finely.
  3. Mince the Garlic: Peel and mince the garlic cloves finely.
  4. Prepare the Jalapeños: Slice the jalapeños in half, remove the seeds, and finely chop them. Adjust the heat level to your preference.
  5. Chop the Cilantro: Rinse and chop the cilantro leaves and tender stems finely.
  6. Juice the Limes: Cut the limes in half and extract the juice, catching any seeds.
  7. Combine the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped jalapeños, and cilantro.
  8. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle in the ground cumin, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Add sugar if desired.
  9. Pour in the Lime Juice: Drizzle the lime juice over the mixture.
  10. Mix Thoroughly: Gently mix all the ingredients together without mashing the tomatoes.
  11. Taste and Adjust: Taste the salsa and adjust salt, lime juice, or heat as needed.
  12. Chill the Salsa: Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  13. Prepare Your Tacos: Get your taco fillings ready while the salsa chills.
  14. Serve with Chips: Enjoy the salsa as a dip with tortilla chips.
  15. Garnish and Enjoy: Stir the salsa before serving and garnish with extra cilantro if desired.
  16. Spoon it on Your Tacos: Generously spoon the salsa over your tacos.
