  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water or chicken broth to a boil.
  2. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of stone-ground grits to prevent lumps.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until creamy and tender.
  4. Stir in 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter and 1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese until melted and well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm.
  5. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and diced bell pepper; sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  6. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently.
  7. Add the shrimp, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir to coat the shrimp evenly.
  8. Cook for 3-4 minutes until shrimp are pink and opaque. Avoid overcooking.
