Description

Enjoy these crispy air fryer churro bites, coated in sweet cinnamon sugar. Perfect for snacking or dessert, they are easy to make and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Cooking spray (for air fryer)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, unsalted butter, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the butter is completely melted and the mixture comes to a gentle boil.
  2. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon or spatula until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Allow the dough to cool for about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the dough on medium speed for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Prepare a clean surface or a large cutting board. Lightly flour the surface to prevent sticking.
  6. Divide the dough into small portions (about the size of a tablespoon) and roll each portion into a small ball or shape them into small logs.
  7. Set the shaped dough aside on a plate or baking sheet.
  8. In a small bowl, combine the 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix well.
  9. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  10. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  11. Place the churro bites in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece.
  12. Air fry for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up, shaking the basket halfway through.
  13. Carefully remove the churro bites from the air fryer and place them in a bowl.
  14. While warm, roll the churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well-coated.
  15. Sprinkle any leftover cinnamon sugar over the churro bites for extra sweetness.
  16. Serve warm, optionally with a dipping sauce like chocolate or caramel.
  17. For a fun twist, pair with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  18. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to enjoy them warm again.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough cools sufficiently before handling to avoid burns.
  • Adjust the cinnamon sugar ratio to your taste preference.
