Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional, such as parsley or cilantro)
Instructions
- Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly under running water. Peel them using a vegetable peeler, or leave the skin on for added texture and nutrients.
- Slice the sweet potatoes into fry shapes, aiming for uniform thickness of about 1/4 inch wide.
- Soak the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix sea salt, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- In a large mixing bowl, add the dried fries and drizzle with olive oil. Toss gently to coat.
- Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the fries and toss again until well coated.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Arrange the seasoned fries in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
- The fries are done when golden brown and crispy. For extra crispiness, bake for an additional 5 minutes, watching closely.
- Carefully remove the fries from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes.
- Sprinkle with fresh herbs before serving.
- Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- For extra flavor, feel free to experiment with different spices or herbs in the seasoning mix.
