Description
Enjoy a rich and creamy Tofu Chocolate Mousse that’s vegan and high in protein. Made with dark chocolate and a touch of sweetness, this decadent dessert is perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself to a guilt-free indulgence.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips (vegan if desired)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional toppings: fresh berries, coconut whipped cream, or shaved chocolate
Instructions
- Wrap the block of tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut the pressed tofu into cubes.
- Melt the chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave. If using the microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a high-speed blender or food processor, combine the pressed tofu cubes, melted chocolate, maple syrup (or agave nectar), cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. Adjust sweetness if desired.
- Transfer the mousse into individual serving dishes or a large bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or longer for a firmer texture.
- Once chilled, serve the mousse as is or with optional toppings like fresh berries, coconut whipped cream, or shaved chocolate. Get creative with additional toppings like crushed nuts or chocolate sauce.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Stir before serving if it thickens.
Notes
- Use firm tofu for the best texture; silken tofu will not work well.
- For a richer flavor, opt for dark chocolate with a higher cocoa content.
- Experiment with flavors by adding espresso powder or almond extract.
- Enjoy the presentation by layering the mousse with toppings in clear glasses.
