Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (1 cup of each).
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves (about 5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely. Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
- Youll need a cocktail shaker, a jigger, and a tall glass (like a Collins glass).
- Measure out 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice, and 1 oz of simple syrup using the jigger.
- Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- Pour the measured gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup into the shaker over the ice.
- Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Fill a Collins glass with fresh ice cubes.
- Strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass over the ice.
- Gently pour club soda over the top until the glass is full.
- Add a fresh lemon slice on the rim and a maraschino cherry if desired.
- Stir gently and taste to ensure the balance of flavors. Adjust sweetness with more simple syrup if needed.
