Description

Enjoy a classic Tom Collins cocktail, featuring gin, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup topped with club soda for a refreshing fizz. Perfect for warm evenings or gatherings, this drink is easy to make and delightful to sip!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz gin
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup (1:1 ratio of sugar to water)
  • Club soda, to top
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh lemon slice, for garnish
  • Maraschino cherry, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (1 cup of each).
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves (about 5 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely. Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
  4. You’ll need a cocktail shaker, a jigger, and a tall glass (like a Collins glass).
  5. Measure out 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice, and 1 oz of simple syrup using the jigger.
  6. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  7. Pour the measured gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup into the shaker over the ice.
  8. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  9. Fill a Collins glass with fresh ice cubes.
  10. Strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass over the ice.
  11. Gently pour club soda over the top until the glass is full.
  12. Add a fresh lemon slice on the rim and a maraschino cherry if desired.
  13. Stir gently and taste to ensure the balance of flavors. Adjust sweetness with more simple syrup if needed.
  14. Enjoy your homemade Tom Collins, whether sharing with friends or indulging solo!
