Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups milk (whole, almond, or oat milk)
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons loose chai tea or 2 chai tea bags
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (plus extra for garnish)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of loose chai tea or 2 chai tea bags.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- If using loose tea, strain it out after simmering. If using tea bags, simply remove them from the saucepan.
- In another saucepan, pour in 2 cups of milk (whole, almond, or oat).
- Heat the milk over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. Heat until hot but not boiling.
- Once warm, add in the 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Add in the sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground cardamom. Stir well to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Once the milk mixture is smooth and the white chocolate is melted, pour the brewed chai tea into the saucepan with the milk mixture.
- Stir gently to combine the chai and milk, creating a beautiful creamy color.
- Let the combined mixture heat for another minute or two to ensure everything is warm and well blended.
- Pour the white chocolate chai latte into your favorite mugs, filling them about three-quarters full.
- Top each latte with a generous dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
- Sprinkle a little extra ground cinnamon on top for garnish.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Experiment with spices to suit your taste; add more ginger or a pinch of black pepper for a spicier chai.
- For a vegan option, use plant-based milk and skip the whipped cream or use a vegan alternative.
- Adjust the sweetness level according to your preference; honey or maple syrup can be used as alternatives to sugar.
