- 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 5–6 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 bunch kale, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)

- In a large pot, brown the sausage over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
- Add bacon and cook until crispy.
- Add onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Pour in chicken broth and water. Bring to a boil.
- Add potatoes and simmer until tender, about 15 minutes.
- Stir in kale and heavy cream.
- Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste.
